Flexible learning spaces and student-centered aesthetics have been a part of the Gateway Academy design since its inception. Recent construction projects at Riverview Elementary will soon open new educational spaces in the district, creating the opportunity for Gateway Academy to be housed near similar education programs and providing students access to more advanced learning opportunities. For this reason, beginning in the 2016-2017 school year, Gateway Academy will be located within the Riverview Elementary building at 4100 208th Street West, Farmington MN 55024.
We know that the personalized learning culture of Gateway Academy is very important to you. Be assured, Gateway Academy will remain a small, personalized, 3-8 learning community. Although it will work closely with both Riverview Elementary and Dodge Middle School, Gateway Academy will continue to be a separate and independent program.
A few advantages to being located on the Riverview-Dodge campus are:
More opportunity for both staff and student collaboration.
Shared resources, such as specialists and support staff.
Additional advanced learning opportunities through partnership with Dodge Middle School. The proximity to DMS will allow students and staff to travel more easily between buildings.
The ability to continue and strengthen established partnerships with local businesses and organizations, including the Farmington Library.
“Having served as administrative support for Gateway this year, I have been very impressed with the creativity used as students become active agents of their own learning, something that is similar to the strategic plans at RVES and DMS. As we transition to house Gateway Academy at the Riverview-Dodge campus, we are excited about expanding the possibilities for all of our students,” said Dodge Middle School Principal Chris Bussmann.
Riverview Elementary Principal Kim Grengs is ready to welcome Gateway: “We believe in cultivating a community of trust, respect, and integrity for all. We are excited for Gateway to join us in our endeavors and have a similar philosophy in meeting the needs of our students. We are excited to have the opportunity to collaborate with the Gateway students and staff.”
